FTS selects the Baan DEM compliant EZ-Workflow to automate their global operations

North American provider of hardware, software and services for retailers, banks, credit unions and financial institutions, FTS selected on March 24th EZ-Workflow to act as global Workflow solution for their operations. The selection process, involving other Workflow automation tools, identified the following criteria as key selection factors:
  • Compliancy to Baan DEM (Dynamic Enterprise Modeling) with flexibility to define hybrid Workflow routes within & beyond the Baan operations
  • Integration capabilities to Baan (all versions) enabling Baan Purchase Requisitions to be dynamically transferred to the Workflow engine and triggering the approval process without human intervention
  • Ability to handle transactions of various formats, such as html (entered using web-forms), Excel, Word, pdf, etc.
  • Web-based user Worklist enabling tasks notifications & execution on any PC without installation, without limitation on the number of employees collaborating in the automated flow (i.e. unlimited users)
  • Integration with extended BPM capabilities, including process modeling, web-publishing, process quantitative analysis and optimization, process certification, etc.
  • Ability to be implemented in less than 6 weeks, with limited involvement of FTS staff
To start, FTS selected to workflow-enable its Purchase Requisition Approval process. Hybrid process involving Baan ERP-5 and Excel documents, this multi-levels approval is scheduled to be fully automated by the end of May 2004. Similar to Comcast Cable and MD Robotics (Baan ERP-5), also using EZ-Workflow, it is expected that the current approval cycle time of several weeks be reduced to a few days, while providing real-time monitoring of approval steps. Stay tuned as other processes, as expenses report handling and others, are expected to follow soon after.

DynaFlow delivers EZ-Compliance to the market, to integrate SOX and Process Management

DynaFlow today announced to have successfully delivered EZ-Compliance to the market. EZ-Compliance integrates Dynamic SOX Compliancy Management within its EZ-Process suite, a certified Enterprise-wide Business Process Management (BPM) solution.

Analyst firms like Gartner and AMR Research consistently emphasize the importance of integrating compliancy measures within organizations' processes. Mr. Beaulieu, President of DynaFlow: "We are strong believers that SOX compliancy cannot be achieved by only filling out questionnaires with lists of internal controls by department. It is by the linking of the controls to their corresponding work context that we are able to enhance the understanding of these by employee, and therefore insure a greater accuracy, completeness and validity of all operations".

Don Morren, DEM/BPM Manager for Herman Miller adds: "This new module's ability to not only define and monitor internal Business Controls, and link them to the related Business Processes, is an attracting feature that would be supportive to companies going through the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) initiatives, as we are."

Comcast Cable automates complex approval process by implementing EZ-Workflow

In its ongoing goal of customer service and internal operations improvement, it became clear that the manually operated purchase approval process in the Atlantic Division of Comcast Cable Communications was no longer providing the speed, flexibility and real-time tracking required to run the business efficiently. So concluded this division of 8000 employees, member of Comcast Cable, the largest US broadband cable provider. The objective then become to implement EZ-Workflow to eliminate the significant inter-office courier costs created by the manual routing and reduce the current approval cycle times that often took several weeks.

The Purchasing Director adds: "Our initial estimates show that our traditional approval cycle time of 2-3 weeks can be significantly scaled down to a few days, and urgent approvals can be processed within a day. Not only has the removal of our paper-driven approval process achieved this key business objective, but the electronic approval made possible by EZ-Workflow will also translate to important savings by eliminating daily inter-office couriers. Finally, capital expenditure initiators, buyers and management are able to track on a real-time basis the status and evolution of the approval process".
